Full Service Planning vs. Wedding Management: Which One Is Right For You?

We get this question a lot. What is the difference between Full Service Planning vs Wedding Management? While both services are designed to allow you to fully immerse yourselves into your wedding day, they support you at very different stages of the planning process.

Not every wedding requires full-service planning, but every wedding does require some level of wedding management. Some couples enjoy researching vendors, managing contracts, and organizing the basic logistics on their own. Others would rather have a planner involved from the beginning, providing structure, recommendations and oversight at each step. Neither approach is right or wrong, they simply require different levels of support.

Each planner has their own idea on what is included in their full service and wedding management offerings as this can heavily does depend on the type of clientele they service. For example, a luxury wedding planner (wedding budgets $250,000+) have a very different full service offering then a mid-range planner would (wedding budgets $45k-$100k).

What is Full-Service Planning?

Full service planning is designed for the couples who want or need an experience professional from the beginning. Rather than simply organizing what you have already planned, your planner becomes your guide, strategist, and advocate. Every recommendation, timeline, budget decision, and design choice is made with your priorities in mind. This does not mean taking over your wedding, unless you give us that authority, but for the most part you are involved. I mean, it is your wedding.

What Full-Service Planning Typically Includes:

• Budget management

• Venue and vendor recommendations + management through the planning process

• Contract review

• Design development and sourcing the elements to bring it to life

• Floor plan and layout assistance

• Full run of show/wedding day (or weekend) timeline

• RSVP management if requested

• Unlimited planning meetings

• Wedding day assistant (or what some planners still call it "Lady in Waiting", which seriously this is 2026, let's modernize that title)

What is Wedding Management?

Another term, which we believe is mis-leading, is "Day of Coordination", but this is intended for couples who have already planned their wedding, but need someone to actually execute. You've booked everything and now it needs to come together in some way. This level of service typical begins 60 days before your wedding.

Our role is to review everything you have booked, look at the contracts, read the fine print, and start building out your day. This allows you to fully enjoy those last few months without managing schedules, answering the endless vendor questions, or troubleshooting unexpected situations.

What Wedding Management Typically Includes:

• Reviewing your existing plans

• Creating your timeline

• Confirm details with your vendors

• Managing setup and decor placement

• Review your floorplan and make adjustments if needed

• Coordination for just the ceremony and reception (so no rehearsal dinner planning or post wedding brunch planning)

The planning is yours. The execution becomes ours.
